Acuvue Oasys Contact Lenses: The Clear Choice for You
Acuvue Oasys Contact Lenses are among the best of all contact lenses for astigmatism. If you have astigmatism, then chances are you've been told that you will never be able to wear soft contact lenses; or at least never wear soft contact lenses comfortably and with clear vision. However, thanks to Acuvue's advanced technology, there is an answer: Acuvue Oasys Contact Lenses. People who have astigmatism have a unique challenge when trying to wear soft contact lenses, and require specialty contact lenses designed for astigmatism.
Astigmatism is a condition of the eye that affects the shape of the eye; and therefore makes it challenging to wear contact lenses since they don't fit the eye appropriately. A “normal” eye is shaped round like a ball; but an eye affected with astigmatism becomes elongated until it is shaped more like a football. Therefore, eyes with astigmatism need lenses that are shaped specifically for the oblong shape of the eye; this is known as a toric contact lense. Most toric lenses have basically two lenses built into one, similar to bifocal glasses. This allows for part of the lens to manage the astigmatism, and the other part to correct the vision. However, a common problem is that gravity and the blinking of the eye can offset the balance of the lenses. This causes the lens to rotate around on the eye, which in turn causes discomfort and blurry vision. Accuvue contact lenses solve this problem. Acuvue has two types of toric contact lenses; Acuvue Oasys contact lenses and Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism. Both are designed using Acuvue's Accelerated Stabilization Design (ASD), which uses four stability zones to ensure the lenses stay in place and prevents them from rotating around. ASD technology works with each blink of the eye, to keep the lens aligned correctly; resulting in consistent, clear, comfortable vision. Both Acuvue toric contact lenses also use Acuvue's Hydraclear Plus technology; which keeps the lens moist, and retains moisture all day for long wearability and comfort. However, Acuvue Oasys contact lenses are newer than Acuvue Advance (the Oasys brand was released in 2008), and therefore have a few improvements over the older Acuvue Advance lenses. The two main improvements are the replacement schedule and the permeability, which translates into “comfort” for the wearer. Acuvue Advance's replacement schedule recommends that you take the lenses out each night; with daily wear, the lenses can last up to two weeks before needing replaced. Acuvue Oasys, on the other hand, can be worn up to six nights consecutively, and replaced every 1-2 weeks as needed. This offers a bit more flexibility to fit your lifestyle. Oasys also improved its oxygen permeability, which results in a more comfortable lens. If your eyes can “breathe” without being suffocated by the lens, then they won't dry out; if they don't dry out, then the lenses stay more comfortable. Acuvue is already well known as the leader in the contact lens market. If you have astigmatism, Acuvue Oasys contact lenses are the “clear choice” for you!
