How to Buy Contact Lense Brands Online

You can save money – and time – when you buy online!  When getting ready to buy contact lense brands online, you can save the most money by following a few simple steps.

First of all, before you can buy contact lenses online, you must first get a contact lense prescription. This is for a number of reasons:

contact lense prescription

1.         It's important when ordering contact lenses online to get the right prescription strength.  Just because a prescription was right for you a few years or even a year ago, it might have changed.

2.         Contacts are not a “one size fits all” product.  Just like with clothing or shoes, they need to be fitted to you specifically in order to get the most of the lenses; and only an eye care professional is qualified to determine your perfect fit.

3.         Only an eye doctor can tell if you need specialty contact lenses, such as multifocal contact lenses or contact lenses for astigmatism.  If you do, these also need to be fitted just for you and your eyes.

4.         An annual eye exam is imperative to the health of your eyes, especially if you wear contact lenses.  Over time, your eyes can start to deteriorate or show signs of infection, even if you feel like your vision is fine.

5.         Since contact lenses are a medical product, any site that sells contact lenses is required by law to require that you give them a current prescription before they allow you to buy contact lenses from them.

You are not required to buy contact lenses from the doctor that gives you the prescription; however, he or she is required by law to give you your prescription.  This enables you to take the prescription home and search for the most affordable contact lenses before you buy.

If you already have a prescription and are merely trying new lenses, then you don't need a new prescription.

compare contact lenses So the next step is to start comparing where to get contact lenses.  Sometimes, your eye doctor is the most affordable, if he or she combines office visits, bulk orders, and maybe contact lense solution and other products.  Sometimes, large retail outlets such as Costco have sales or other promotional offers.

However, more often than not, you will find the cheapest place to buy contact lenses is online. This is because there is no middle man to mark up his percentage of the cost of the lenses, and there aren't any additional markups such as retail store overhead. Also, there is a lot of competition online, and so that keeps the prices low.

Beware, however, of hidden costs on many of these sites, such as high shipping and handling fees. Also, many suppliers offer discounts if you order numerous pairs at a time, which is a great idea anyway so you always have a spare pair on hand.

Other sites offer coupons or free trials, which is also a great idea to make sure that that particular lens fits you comfortably. If your lenses aren't comfortable or if you can't see well with them, then you won't wear them and they are a waste of money (no matter how cheaply you got them).

If you take the right steps, you can save money (and time) when you buy contact lenses online.
