Cat Eye Contact Lenses
Of all the special effect or movie contact lenses designs, cat eye contact lenses are among the most popular. They were among the first designs for fun contact lenses, and have maintained their position at the top.
Whether you are looking to enhance your Catwoman costume at Halloween or just look like Halle Barry as you explore your inner feline, contact lenses will create a head-turning effect. While there are variations on the iris colors, most lenses come in a yellow, gold, or pale green color. The eye-catching effect, however, is created by the oblong, football-shaped pupil that is associated with the pupils of our furry feline friends.
The center part of the lense is clear, allowing your pupil to see normally through the lens. The special effect lense is created by a blackened oblong area where the color of your iris would normally show through; in combination with the abnormally-colored iris of the lens.
Of course, cat eye contact lenses are far from the only choice you have if you want to make bold statements with your eyes. There are all kinds of lenses to create just about any special effect or character appearance that you desire; including vampire contact lenses, opaque contact lenses (to create the affect of being blind), and even mirrored contact lenses (like Vin Diesel wore in The Chronicles of Riddick).
All special effect contact lenses are to be cared for in the same way that you would care for regular vision-correction contact lenses. They need to be cleaned and stored in the appropriate solutions, and you should never, ever share your lenses with anyone else.
Also, even if you don’t require vision correction, all lenses (even costume contact lenses) require a prescription. That is because every eyeball is shaped differently; and so a prescription measures your eye so that you can get a lens that will fit your properly. If a lens doesn’t fit correctly, it can lead to severe pain and discomfort, eye infections, and even blindness.
Not to mention, it is even more important that your crazy colored contact lenses fit correctly, so that the pronounced colors and designs creates the right effect. Otherwise, the lenses might “float” around on your eye and ruin the impact you are trying to make (and also make it more difficult for you to see).
You can save money by ordering your special effect contact lenses on line. However, they will still ask for a recent prescription, and will often call the office where you claimed to have received it just to confirm. You can easily make an eye appointment, have your exam, and then get your prescription from that doctor to take home and order your wacky contact lenses.
Many people find the effects of wild crazy contact lenses to be addicting. So beware; your cat eye contact lenses might be your first pair of special effect lenses, but they won’t be your last!
