It used to be that crazy colored contact lenses were only worn by movie stars in the most outlandish of special-effect movies. These days, however, anyone can create their own special effects with their own wacky contact lenses. First, you will need a prescription; even if you don’t require corrective power, the lenses need to “fit” your eye correctly to prevent eye infections and discomfort.  However, by law you do not have to order your lenses through the eye care provider who gives you your prescription.

Then you can bring your prescription home and search for the cheapest contact lenses online.  Many sites offer discounts for first-time users, or even offer free samples of contact lenses.  Other sites offer free shipping or discounts if you order multiple pairs at once.  Take your time, do your homework, and you can save a lot of money. 

Also, remember that if you take care of your fun contact lenses just like you would any other prescription lense, they should last you at least one year (or longer, if you only wear them at Halloween). 

If you wear them multiple times throughout the year, then the cost is spread out and seems easier to manage.  Just think of how much you spend on a haircut several times a year, and what that adds up to over one year.  Then the cost of your fun contact lenses doesn’t seem so much.
