Gothic Contact Lenses
Whether you are looking for Gothic contact lenses for a Halloween costume or to add to your personal daily style, there are a variety of crazy colored contact lenses to suit your needs.
As you might already know, “going Goth” isn’t just for Halloween anymore. Goth is a lifestyle, a statement of beliefs, and an expression of individuality. Many (but not all) Goths show their lifestyle to the world through their clothing, their hair, and their jewelry. But then again, don’t we all?
The use of Gothic contact lenses is just one more way to make your statement. However, there are as many different ideas of what constitutes “Gothic contact lenses” as there are opinions of the Goth lifestyle itself.
Perhaps the most notorious misrepresentation of the Goth culture is shock rocker Marilyn Manson. While Marilyn Manson does not represent the Goth culture in any way, many people associate him as being Goth. Therefore, when people say they are looking for Gothic contact lenses, many of them are actually looking for the opaque contact lenses of pure white color that Marilyn is fond of wearing. These white contact lenses give an ultra-eerie appearance being blind while, at the same time, having a penetrating stare; and are often associated with vampires and other ghouls of the night.
Other popular looks that Goths might enjoy include pitch black contact lenses or red contact lenses. Each of these turn the iris (the colored part of your eye) either solid black or red, and result in completely different looks. There are plenty of other color options as well, ranging from bright blue to solid gold, from pink to purple and everything in between. Some people even get one of each, for a truly crazy look!
Another popular style, especially with women, is the cat eye contact lenses. The pupil is oblong and black, just like those of our furry friends; and the irises can vary from pale to bright yellow or green.
A qualified concern is whether your special effects contact lenses will affect your vision. While most lenses allow for a clear “window” for your pupil, some people do experience tunnel vision with certain styles. Research carefully and ask questions of your provider before making a purchase.
Of course, fun contact lenses are still contact lenses; and need to be treated just like any other lenses. You need to get a prescription from a certified eye care professional; even if you don’t need vision correction. That is because your eyes need to be measured so that you get the right contact lenses that will fit you correctly. Contact lenses that don’t fit your eye can lead to pain, blurry vision, eye infections, and even blindness.
You also need to clean and care for your wildeyes lenses, and wash your hands before putting in contact lenses. And never, ever share your lenses with anyone else.
