Green Contact Lenses with Envy
With the use of green contact lenses, you can subtly enhance your eyes or completely change your appearance.
If you’re looking for green contact lenses, you first need to decide what look you are trying to achieve. Do you want to just subtly enhance your pale green (or pale blue) eyes? Do you want to be a little more bold and change from brown to a vibrant, head-turning green? Or are you trying to go for a more theatrical look, perhaps Halloween contacts to really make a great costume?
Determining this is an important first step, because there are different types of green contacts to help you achieve these different effects. To help you decide, here is a brief overview of the four main types of green contact lenses:
Visibility Tint: If you are looking to change your eye color in any way, this is not the lens for you. Many contact lenses come with a very slight blue or green tint to them, solely for the purpose of easier handling. It is easy to “lose” your contact lens when it’s soaking in its solution or if you drop it, because they are small and clear. Visibility tints merely give a slight color to the lenses so you can find them more easily when cleaning and storing them. Visibility tint does not change your eye color in any way.
Enhancement Tint: Enhancement tinting, as the name implies, merely enhances your existing eye color. If you already have pale green eyes and just want to make them “pop” a little more, then enhancement tints might be for you. This is a good option if you want a natural eye color and a subtle change from your “real” eyes. This is not a good option if you have brown eyes or if you want a really bright, intense color.
Opaque: If you want to completely change your eye color, perhaps from brown to a bright, vibrant green, you will need to get opaque contact lenses. Opaque is a more solid color that allows for more dramatic change to your appearance.
There are many brands that offer green opaque lenses, and they can all offer different looks. Some are a bright solid green to really make an impact. Others offer blended colors to look more natural; and some even offer green lenses that have small lines and dots, just like the natural iris.
Theatrical Contacts: Also known as special effect contacts, theatrical contact lenses can really change your entire eye to resemble just about anything you wish. Most commonly used to enhance Halloween costumes, special effects contacts can make your eyes look like those of a vampire, a zombie, a jaguar, a cat, or just about anything else you can dream up.
All of the types of green contact lenses above can come with or without vision correction (other than the visibility tints; what would be the point?). Many brands also make colored contacts for astigmatism, as multi-focals, or to accommodate other special vision needs.
Consult your eye doctor to see if you can find green contact lenses to fit your specific eyes; and watch everyone turn green with envy at your new, eye-catching look!
